The painting you see here is a depiction of the underlying dark realities that still exist and nobody voices them out. We blame the small sections of our society that demand dowry.

The artist herself has been a victim of such a calling in her life, despite coming from a family who made her capable and independent, her identity was qualified by the other side of the world with how many jewels, money, comfort she was bringing with herself. A young girl transformed into a woman with responsibilities now who brought every little thing her parents could send. The big, small gifts wrapped with love for her with a hope that she will be well-taken care of by her in-laws but was not. The respect she should have got was also torn away from her skin.

The materialistic mindset hoarded all the gems the bride got from her parents home but the real gem- the bride herself was thrown in a abyss to figure out her life in her own. She was stripped away from the freedom of earning her own money, taking care of herself and growing. She was expected to serve, with no expectations in return!

She broke the glass ceiling and emerged out stronger, bold! She demanded rightfully what was hers- her respect & freedom. She knew this world is not as charming as she hoped it to be.
